Women in Recovery Photography Program Since November of 1998, Friends educator and artist Alcina Horstman has
taught photography to mothers recovering from drug and/or alcohol addiction
living in three residential treatment centers operated by Women and Children's
Family Services (WAC), a multicultural nonprofit organization created by
women to serve women. The classes are photography-based, but the focus
is on non-silver or non-darkroom processes. Recently participants created
photography quilts for their children that will become family heirlooms.
The program is sponsored by the California Arts Council's Artists Serving
Special Constituents Grant.
